Kichiemon Asoma, MD

Dr. Asoma speaks Japanese and English fluently. He went to Columbia University majoring in Neuroscience. He completed medical school and Ophthalmology residency at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, where he received the Excellence in Ophthalmology award as a medical student, and was selected to be Chief Resident in his final year.  He served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at SUNY Downstate from 2010 until 2020 and was the Director of Cornea there from 2017 to 2020.  He is board certified in Ophthalmology, and also has specialized training in Dry Eyes, Laser Refractive surgery, and Cataract Surgery including laser cataract surgery and refractive cataract surgery including multifocal, extended depth of focus, and toric lens implants.  In addition to practicing at Apple Ophthalmology, he teaches residents at South Brooklyn Health and NYU/Bellevue.
